Shocking, I know, (that a Congress Critter would take the time to actually read a bill) and what he has to say is very important on this issue.
Bush and his Wall Street cronies jumped the shark on this one, falsely assuming that if they let the clock run out and cry wolf just before Congress shutdown, they'd make out like the true bandits they have shown themselves to be.
Here's Dennis discussing the the bill and the deceptive wording therein - before - the bill was voted down.
When I dropped by the bank this morning all the 'officers' were in a closed door meeting looking none too happy about being there.
Now good ol' Ben ordered the Fed to hand over 630 Billion to Wall Street and it didn't halt the nose dive, did it?

What I noticed is the amount they've requested is almost identical to the cost of the war in Iraq at this point-in-time. It makes you wonder if this 'war' was paid for with the Treasury's credit card; they made 'minimum monthly payments', and now they want us to kick in the 'balance due'!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, I wonder if our nation went 'into hock'; borrowed the money from other allied countries to start and fight the Iraq war; other nations have already 'bailed out', and we're stuck picking up the tab because we promised we would if everyone would chip in and join the 'War-for-Oil-Party-Hearty'.
Who knows, maybe they put up all the home mortgages in America as collateral, and when Americans defaulted on payments, good old Uncle Sam and his current cronies aka GWB and friends, got caught.
Why is it Iraq now has billions of dollars in their government's pockets, and we're in debt up to our American ears?
I think there is absolutely NO CRISIS as it relates to the average American, but there truly is a crisis when it comes to the filthy rich and the greedy government who can't figure out how to pay off the debt its created.
Now that they've played fast and loose these past 8 to 10 years, I believe Americans will finally realize we do not live in a free society; we do not have a Democracy, and it's quite likely this is the end of the America us 'old folk' have loved most of our lives. Diane
Hi Cajun. I'm Cajun, too. What are you doing living in Delaware?
ReplyDeleteDennis is my American Idol. He's right.
I think Dennis is the ONLY member of Congress who read the text of the Bill. Remember that McCain didn't have time to read the 3 page version, so forget about the 100 page document.
ReplyDeleteWe are not dealing with math majors here, so they spout talking points and hope no one challenges them - and no one did.
Wait for reassuring words and get on with life.
Truth telling is dangerous; remember Paul Wellstone.

I found his comments about the crisis being possibly "manufactured" to be very interesting (along with all that he said).
