It's Christmas! - Waltz of the Snowflakes

Mark Morris' ballet "The Hard Nut" has been a joy to watch for many years. This year I found this tiny part and wanted to share it here. If you've never seen the entire ballet, you're missing some great dance talent and imagination at work.

No, I am not awake at this hour. This is a 'scheduled' post.

Hope you enjoyed the experience.  Not your run-of-the-mill Nutcracker ballets. It IS different, after all.

And so it goes.

  1. When it started I thought it was just going to be a piss-take. But it wasn't.

    1. I hope you weren't disappointed. I'm surprised this is new to you. The company has been a huge success in Europe more so than here. It used to be the mark Morris - Arne Zane company, but Zane was lost in the early years of the AIDS pandemic.

    2. No, I didn't know of this company - but then I wouldn't describe myself as a great balletomane.
Over Xmas we're having on TV Matthew Bourne's take on 'Sleeping Beauty'. If it's anything like his 'Swan Lake', even though not in the same way, it should be interesting.

    1. Yes, indeed. Some snowflakes are guys. In fact, in the MM company everyone MUST be able to perform on-point. No exceptions. The full ballet is a real treat for the eyes and senses. Hope you liked it.

    1. My dear Spo,
I am not a physician, nor do I play one on teevee, but I am prescribing a full dose of this ballet for whatever ails you. Seriously, rent it, borrow it, but watch it. It will hold your attention, give new insights into the original story, and make you laugh out loud at times. Would I lie to you?

Thanks for the call today. I hope you both feel better soon.
      Cheers.
