Just a Thought: Words

3 comments:

  1. I'm conscious of hearing #5, 8 & 10 frequently, (#5 ALL the time) - not so much, or even never, the others - though there must, of course, be geographical variations. I dare say that the equivalent list of British-spoken 'clangers' would be rather different but no less laughable/irritating.

    1. I hear #1 and #3 all the time, especially in this region. I also like "disirregardless" too. I grind my teeth!!!
BTW, I took it upon myself to add your site to my blogroll. I hope that's OK. If not, let me know and I'll remove it.

    2. That's absolutely fine, C. I am indeed privileged.

Btw: I thought of a non-word one hears here now and again which may be purely British - 'obstropulous' instead of 'obstreperous'. Not heard that often, though, as expecting people to use words of more than two syllables is an awfully big ask.
