Taxing the AIG Bonuses?

It ain't a good day when you see the head of the Fed in this pose.

There's a bill being pushed in the House to tax the recipients of AIG's biggest bonuses and it's getting lots of play on the news.

But...

How is that going to happen when the majority of those receiving the biggest bonus are in the UK division?

How can the US demand taxes be paid in another country? Am I missing something here? I'm just askin'.

More later.

  1. Would those people also have gotten their bonusses if the US government hadn't stepped in and saved AIG by pumping billions of dollars in it, just to keep it afloat?

    NO!

So, in away they are now getting a bonus for a job not done!

  2. It's all a Kabuki dance by Congress to give the impression they're doing something about it. Nothing will happen. The criminals will keep their money and the looting will continue. Nothing more to see here, move on.

  3. Oh Peter, you are absolutely right.
We are so aware of that fact and that's why people are up in arms about all this.
I am still unsure how the money paid to all these 'experts' in the UK are going to be taxed by the US.

    Thanks for stopping by.
