my father was in Italy during the war; that's all I know, cause he never talked about it.
did your uncles perish in this battle, or did they kill a few germans? are they still living? do you remember them ever talking about the great victory (tat a horrible cost of life)?
I was born 2 years after D-Day. Jim never returned. Don't know any details. Joe never talked about his experiences and I would have been too young to understand. Many years later, it was their sister who told me they were part of the invasion forces. Never forgot that.
No praise can be too great for those who participated in that fateful mission, including those who would have been scared like anything of the possible outcome for themselves, as I absolutely would have been. All gratitude to them.
