Sinead O'Connor: 'Take Off Your Shoes'

Her powerful new protest against the Vatican and it's hypocritical stands regarding sexual abuse.  Sinead described this song as how she imagined "The Holy Spirit would address the Vatican". The new album "Home" is to be released in May.

I needed a little 'fire in the belly' music tonight and this fills the bill. Hope to find the lyrics soon.

And so it goes.

  3. She is a bold one, to do this, after the backlash she received from SNL.

  4. I posted the youtube vid, here are the lyrics:

I plead the blood of Jesus over you
I plead the blood of Jesus over you
And over every fucking thing you do
Seven times I plead the blood of Jesus over you

Take off your shoes - you're on hallowed ground (x2)
Even you can't lie when I'm around
Take off your shoes - you're on hallowed ground

Behold on the last lamp light at the very end of your street
    I'm whispering something
    Come closer to me
    Come closer to me

I say you're running out of battery, you're running out of battery
And I don't see no bunnies around here

If you believed at all in your breviary, if you believed even in just the ghost of me, you wouldn't now be so surprised to see me

In vanity you took the name of me
    You brought me into infamy
And now you're so surprised to see me, and now you're so surprised to see me

    (then repeats earlier lyrics)
As I put in the video info, Sinead described this song as how she'd imagine the Holy Spirit would address the Vatican.

At a live performance of this song in Australia, she dedicated it to the "Vaticunt"
